Applying for a new or renewed teaching license in Ohio just got easier! Thanks to the Ohio Department of Education’s new CORE My Educator Profile system, you can say goodbye to paper applications and chasing down designated district staff for signatures. Using the system also shortens the amount of time necessary to get a license issued. Finally, CORE MEP provides a secure environment where you can update personal information and pay license fees online with a credit card.
But one important thing must happen before you can use the system: whoever signs teacher license applications for your organization must first enroll in CORE My Educator Profile as an electronic signer. Depending on the type of license application you wish to submit, your electronic signer would be your superintendent, superintendent designee, Local Professional Development Committee coordinator or coordinator designee, or other district staff person listed in an appropriate role in the redesigned Ohio Educational Directory System (OEDS-R). You may want to check with your signer now to make sure he or she has enrolled, thus permitting you to use the system. Hundreds of administrators already have been notified to enroll.

ODE’s Office of Educator Licensure has issued more than 300 licenses since the system opened in early January.
